How to Use Facebook Messenger Screen Share

Messenger can be used to video chat with friends on Facebook, but did you know that you can also use it to screen share? As long as the person you want to share your screen with has a Facebook account and the Messenger app, you will be able to screen share with them.

How to Call on Facebook Messenger to Screen Share

In order to screen share via Facebook, both parties will need to initiate the Facebook video call on laptops; both Macs and PCs will work. However, the feature will be disabled if either end uses a phone for the call. The example below is of a Facebook video chat on Chrome; it may look slightly different in other browsers. Sign up for our free Tip of the Day newsletter for more screen-sharing tips and other neat tricks.

Pro Tip: If you want to share your iPhone's screen, you can plug your iPhone into your Mac with the cable, then use Facebook Messenger on your computer to share your screen and the iPhone's screen. After step nine above, you will have to navigate to QuickTime and select your iPhone from the drop-down menu. It can be a little complicated, so you may consider using a different app, such as Zoom, to do this.
