Review: NIFTY Is the Portable Charger of & for the Future

USB-C is the future, whether the iPhone 8 supports it or not. Apple has embraced USB-C across its latest MacBooks, and the cable has a lot of advantages, including reversible connectors and quick charging. To bridge the gap until we get USB-C for iPhone, there's the NIFTY Mobile Charger ($79.99)

The NIFTY portable charger has a USB-C port and a traditional USB port to charge old and new devices with 6800 mAh of power. The NIFTY has a striking modern design and comes in attractive color choices dubbed stone red, suede black, and stone grey. Another nice touch, literally, is the touch-sensitive button-free design. Instead of pressing a button to see the available power, you just tap the front of the charger and the LEDs illuminate.

Another nice design touch is the FlatLine cables. They are flat, naturally, and rugged and rubberized; however, they don't include USB to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C, just USB-C to traditional USB and traditional USB to microUSB.

Pros

  • USB-C and traditional USB charging with 6800 mAh
  • Striking modern design
  • Attractive color choices
  • Touch-sensitive button-free design
  • FlatLine cables

Cons

  • USB to Lightning and USB-C to USB-C sold separately

Final Verdict

If you need to charge USB and USB-C devices, the NIFTY Mobile Charger is an attractive portable charger option.
