Review: Colorful Wired Lightning Earbuds from Scosche

Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhones years ago, and it's not looking back. So it makes sense to acquire a set of Lightning-compatible earbuds like the IDR300L Lightning Earbuds ($49.99) from Scosche.

Because the earbuds use Lightning as the connection, the audio is transmitted digitally for high performance. The downside is you can't use that Lightning port to charge your iPhone, but you could use a Qi wireless charger or a Lightning splitter designed for that purpose.

A distinctive feature of these Schosche Lightning earbus is that they come with three different color-matching caps. The black earbuds come with black, silver, or gold caps and the white model comes with white, silver, or rose gold. It's a neat option that can help you match the earbuds to the color of your iPhone. They also come with three silicone inserts for a good fit. The four-foot cable includes an in-line microphone, volume controls, and call management buttons. It also works with Siri.

Pros

  • Uses Lightning for digital audio
  • Three sets of color-matching caps
  • Three silicone inserts
  • In-line microphone, controls, call management in four-foot cable
  • Works with Siri

Cons

  • Cannot charge and listen at the same time, at least without accessories

Final Verdict

If you want a purely digital connection for your music listening pleasure, try the IDR300L Lightning Earbuds from Scosche.
