Review: Audials Radio App Puts Thousands of Radio Stations at Your Fingertips

Audials Radio App Puts Thousands of Radio Stations at Your Fingertips

Audials Radio offers Internet lovers a great deal of radio services.  The app isn't just a simple radio app; it also offers news and a chance for users to keep track of their favourite stations. Its catalog is made up of over 90,000 radio stations from various countries around the world.  Talk radio, all of your old favorites from the FM and AM days, and music from a ton of genres are also included.

Each time you listen to the radio stations, the app will set up a pre-buffer after which it will automatically stream whatever is playing on the radio expressly to your device. You can use just your device speakers or you can connect it to other speakers using the headphone jack or Bluetooth speakers.

Any time you open up the app, all you need to do is to browse all the different stations and choose the one you desire to listen to. Also you can search for stations using keywords or station call letters. If you want, you can also put in new stations in case the app doesn't have your desired channel. After that, you will have to wait a few moments for the pre-buffer and then it will start streaming the audio. It is as simple as that and it takes only a few moments to get in and listen to the radio.

The peripheral features are exactly where things get fascinating. The Zap feature suggests similar radio stations to the one you are listening to. The moment you hit the Zap button you will be connected to another radio station that plays the same kind of music you were just listening to. It's an easy way to discover new stations.

The app comes with an alarm clock and a sleep timer. The two of them are simple to set up. All you need to do is to set a time. After setting the time, the alarm will automatically go off with whatever radio station you want. Note that you will have to be on the station and listening to it before you can decide to set it as an alarm. The sleep timer is simpler to set, all you need to do is just to set a time limit and the app will keep running until the limit you set runs out.

An equalizer is also embedded in the app so that you can change the sound quickly.

You can use the record feature to record the songs you hear on the radio for playback later.  These songs are also stored on your device as you can rename them and move them as you please. Other music players in your iPhone also recognize these songs.

Pros

  • Free to download and listen
  • Easy to keep your favorite radio station on tap

Cons

  • Buffering takes a while depending on your internet speed

Final Verdict

An amazing way to listen to radio stations whether you're at home or out and about with a really good user interface. You can also save the radio stations that you like so you don't have to search for them again. I love this app and it's definitely a keeper. It's free to download and there are no ads or in-app purchases, which is a bonus.
