How to Use Siri to Translate English to Other Languages with iOS 11 on iPhone

Siri is doing its best to become a translator in iOS 11. While you still can’t translate other languages to American English, you can translate English to various other languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese, for now. Not only will Siri translate it, but you can press play to hear what it sounds like as well. Here’s how to use Siri to translate English to other languages with iOS 11 on iPhone.

How to Use Siri to Translate English to Other Languages

  • Activate Siri on your iPhone by holding down the Home button. iPhone X users will need to hold down the Side (Sleep/Wake) button.
  • Say, “Siri, translate [English words] into [Language].”
  • For example, “Hey Siri, how do you say “Hello, how are you?” in French?”

  • Siri will present the answer, and next to the answer will be a play button. Tap the play button to hear the translation out loud.
