How to Send an Animoji Sticker in Messages on Your iPhone

Here's a fun one! Did you know that Apple's animated emojis, Animojis, can not only be sent as video messages but also as stickers in your iPhone's Messages app? While you still need an iPhone with Face ID to send video messages, you can now send Animoji stickers from any iPhone with iOS 13, meaning the iPhone SE and later. Let's get started with learning how to make and use Animoji stickers in Messages right now.

To get started creating and using Animojis for Messages on your iPhone, make sure your device is updated to iOS 13, then open the Messages app and compose a new message or enter an existing text thread.

  1. Tap the App Store icon next to the Camera icon.
  2. Now tap the monkey face.

  3. Swipe to the left across the Animoji and Memoji choices and stop on the one you want to use.
  4. Make the face that you'd like to send, then touch and hold it, while dragging upwards to the message field.

  5. Release the Animoji sticker over the message field, and it will be dropped into the thread.
