Hey Sarah,

Can I use more than four digits as a password on my iPhone?

Sincerely,

Insecure

Dear Insecure,

The default password option on iPhone has been six digits since iOS 9. If you are using a four-digit password and would like to have a longer, more secure numeric password or to create a custom alphanumeric password instead, you can do so in the Touch ID & Passcode Settings.

Open the Settings App and scroll down to tap on Touch ID & Passcode.

Enter your current passcode.

Next, tap on Change Passcode.

Enter your current passcode again.

Now, you can either enter a new six-digit numeric passcode by typing it in on the keypad. Or you can tap Passcode Options about the keyboard and select Custom Alphanumeric Code, Custom Numeric Code, or 4-Digit Numeric Code.

Enter your new passcode twice to complete the change.
