Apple Watch Cellular Plans: What It Will Cost You on Every Network

The new Apple Watch Series 3 has a cellular model allowing you to place calls, check email, and stream music without your iPhone. You will, of course, still have to own an iPhone and pay for an iPhone cellular plan. But owning the cellular Apple Watch means you’ll also need to add the cost of an Apple Watch cellular plan to your current bill. The question is, how much will the Apple Watch cellular plans cost on each network? Here’s how much an Apple Watch cellular plan will cost you on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, which are the only carriers currently supported for Apple Watch in the United States.

How Much Does the New Apple Watch Series 3 Cost?

The cellular model of the Apple Watch series 3 starts at $399 for the 38mm watch with Aluminum case. The same model at 42mm goes for $429. The 38mm Apple Watch series 3 without cellular costs $329, for comparison.

Cost of Apple Watch Cellular Plans

Unfortunately, it appears all of the currently supported carriers for the Apple Watch are a united front on the price: $10 a month to add your wearable.

I called Verizon, since it’s the carrier I use, to double check. The day of the announcement, a coworker of mine was quoted $5 with them. So either something shifted between then and now or the representative my co-worker spoke to was incorrect. Either way, it’s a bit of a let down.

To reiterate, whether you’re on Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, your Apple Watch cellular plan will cost an additional $10 a month.

As long as $120 a year to have a cellular connection on your wrist is worth it for you and your budget, it’s incredible to have an Apple Watch that can go iPhone-free.

In the future, I imagine more carriers will gain support, which could help create more competition in the way of pricing. Until then, you may have to sacrifice a couple lattes each month to cover it.
